Erik ten Hag has released an injury update on two Manchester United stars following their 4-1 win over Melbourne Victory earlier this week.
Raphael Varane and David de Gea both started in the 4-0 win over Liverpool last week, with Varane playing the first half and De Gea lasting around 70 minutes. The Spaniard was expected to play the whole game, but was injured midway through the second half.
Both were left out of the squad to face Melbourne Victory and the new United boss has now updated fans on their fitness, confirming both players should be back soon.
“David, you saw against Liverpool, he was relegated [injured] but he’s already training and he’s back on the training pitch,” Ten Hag is reported by Manchester United’s official website.

“Rapha is also training but, yes, a bit, and I expect him to be back on the training pitch.”
It’s a quick turnaround for Ten Hag, with the next game against Crystal Palace coming up in less than 72 hours.
The verdict of the Supreme Court…
Varane and De Gea are two players. Ten Haag will be desperate to maintain his form as both are expected to be mainstays in his side. United are close to signing Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez and that would provide cover for Varane, who has struggled with injuries since joining the club last year.
There is, however, no obvious replacement for De Gea. Tom Heaton started the game against Melbourne Victory and although he has an impressive Premier League career behind him, the question is whether he is good enough to be United’s second keeper.
