How to Earn Over $50 in Amazon Credits Before Premiere (2022)

Amazon Prime Day deals are just one benefit that comes with being an Amazon Prime member. Here’s another one: Amazon is offering at least $52 in credit to Prime members ahead of the big sale, which takes place on July 12th and 13th. We’ve highlighted the best promotions below. This is an easy way to save money to spend on Amazon, especially if you want to treat yourself (responsibly!) during Prime Day.

We want to emphasize that most of these promotions require you to spend money to earn credits. If you don’t plan to pay to watch A light year, for example, then you should not select that promotion. Think carefully about whether the promotion is worth it.

Be sure to check out ours Amazon Prime Day coverage to make up for all the sales – there are tons of great early bird deals already. Our Prime Day tips guide will also help you figure out when a discount isn’t worth your time.

Special offer for Gear readers: Get a 1 year subscription to WIRED for $5 ($25 off). This includes unlimited access WIRED.com and our print magazine (if you prefer). Subscriptions help us fund the work we do every day.

Before we dive in, there are a few things to know. First, you must be a Prime member to take advantage of this feature. Second, credits are automatically added to eligible accounts after meeting the criteria of the applicable offer. Amazon will email you when those credits are added. Frustratingly, there’s no way to see the total balance of your Promotional Credits in your Amazon account, but once they’re added, they’ll automatically be applied at checkout to purchases of eligible items shipped and sold by Amazon.

Note: Credits can take a day or two to add to your account, so it’s best to jump on them sooner rather than later if you want them in time for Prime Day.

Amazon offers Prime members a $10 credit for filling out a promotional stamp card. (One activity involves spending $5, so it can be argued that it’s actually a $5 credit.) The four activities include purchasing a Prime-eligible item worth $5 or more, streaming a show on Prime Video, listening to a song on Prime Music and borrowing a free e-book. Redemption instructions and details are below. Please note that if you view the page without completing step 2, you may become ineligible for the promotion.

  1. Sign in to Amazon with your Prime account. A free 30-day trial is available for new members.
  2. Go to this page. Click Activate Stampcard. Amazon says: “If you view this promotion page and do not confirm your participation by clicking ‘[Activate] your Stampcard’, you will not be eligible for this promotion.”
  3. Collect all four stamps by the end of the day on July 13th to get a credit. Your credit will be applied directly to your Amazon account within 48 hours of completing your stamp card.

Scroll to the bottom of this page and click the button to get a free $2 credit. A limited amount of credits are available each day, but more are added at 8:00 PM ET (5:00 PM PT). Follow this page and refresh quickly to try to secure yours.

You can get a $5 credit when you buy an Atom movie ticket A light year or select purchase A light year goods. You can also automatically get $5 off concession purchases if you check out using Amazon Pay. For a sales route, go here to view eligible items, starting at $6.

To purchase a movie ticket, you will need to create an account with Atom and use a coupon code A LIGHT YEAR on departure. For the merchandise route, go here to see eligible items, starting at $6. You can also automatically get $5 off concession purchases if you check out using Amazon Pay.

To get this credit, buy a ticket to visit Baz Luhrmann Elvis on Atom and use the promo code ELVIS on departure. The credit expires at the end of the day on July 13. Buying concessions? You might get another $5 off by checking out Amazon Pay.

This promotion starts on July 12th. We are not fans of buy now pay later services as they can be predatory. But if you use Affirm regularly and plan to spend $100 or more on Prime Day, then this is an easy way to get $25 in Amazon credit.

Additional offers for selected accounts

The following offers are either targeted at specific account types or by invitation only. Your mileage may vary, but if you’re eligible, these could be good ways to earn extra benefits.

Amazon gift card

This offer is only valid for Prime members purchasing a gift card or top-up for the first time. It starts on July 12th at 12:01 AM ET. Add a $50 Amazon Gift Card to your cart and use promo code at checkout to receive $12.50 worth of promotional credit. Alternatively, you can reload $50 to your Amazon account here. If you don’t reload, you can email yourself a gift card. This is only worth it if you plan to spend at least $50 on Amazon on Prime Day.

If you’ve never logged into the Amazon mobile app before, you May are eligible for this promotion. You’ll get $15 off your first purchase of $25 and $15 off your second purchase of $15 or more. This contract expires on July 31st.

Select accounts can get $20 off a purchase of $40 or more when they upload a photo to Amazon Photos for the first time. Backing up your photos is important, and Amazon Photos is a decent alternative to our favorite photo storage service, Google Photos. This credit can only be used on Prime Day, and it’s only worth it if you’re planning to switch to Amazon Photos anyway.

If you have a Discover card, you may be able to add it to your Amazon wallet and use the code 22DISCOVER20 to get $20 off your purchase of $20.01 or more. After adding it to your wallet, pay with the newly added card and use the promo code at checkout to get the discount.

I cannot stress this enough: Do not apply for a credit card simply to get a $200 gift card. But if you’ve thoroughly researched this card and are considering applying for one, this promotion gives eligible customers a free $200 gift card upon approval.
