Brian Barrett: Well, and I’ll start, just to clarify, too, I think the important part of this initial email didn’t say it would be fired if they didn’t answer. Email alone just said, send us a list of five things about what you did last week. And then the elon separately on x tweets, if you don’t write, you will be forced resign.
Katie Drummond: I hope all types of federal workers regularly check X regularly or will obviously miss important updates on their employment status from the government.
Brian Barrett: And I really talked to one person who works in a federal government that muffled the elon musk on XI did not see him by the end of Monday. So it’s just part of the chaos that came into. The second part, and most of the picture is that leadership in all these agencies seemed to have no idea that this was coming. It was just a bomb in the middle of the weekend at the federal workforce. And that is why there was an argument of any agency that realized how to answer. Brian Barrett: Yes, that’s. In other agencies, it was somehow, generally there is a feeling that is led, let’s wait, wait until Monday and you will get more guidelines. Then, in the meantime, some people are already writing on emails. Some people are not. Some didn’t even see that. Then some agencies began the stand, including the allegedly FBI, where the Kash Patel, who may be the most original Trump Loyalists in those positions, obviously pulled out the line, “No, don’t write to it.” The State Department also said: “Absolutely no. You don’t do this.” And then we somehow saw a mixed lead in the NIH. It was kind of yes, but no, but yes. Other agencies did not receive any directives. In some cases, the federal judges received this email.
It was a really shambolic episode that speaks, I mean, as arbitrarily, capriciously, just silly, full of action, and I mean stupidly in terms of not thinking, but with very serious implications obviously. As for the place where we landed on that, OPM later said, “It doesn’t matter. You won’t let go. Don’t worry about it.” And Elon Musk was almost tweeted after that, for people to get another chance, but next time he will be fired next time. What was just a tweet again.
Katie Drummond: And I believe that the president himself said something after the afternoon for the effect of better answering or will be somehow fired or discharged. What again, incredibly vaguely, and to be serious for a minute, I mean, it’s a funny email. It’s a funny situation. But putting yourself in the shoes of someone who works for the Federal Government, this is their life for life. They support their family like this. They are paid like this.
