Amazon’s first quantum computer chip makes his debut

THe news: Amazon web services announced the ocel, its quantum computer chip of the first generation. While the chip has only a rudimentary computer ability, the company says the providence is a step on the way to creating a larger machine that can deliver reputable killers in the industry, such as fast and accurate simulations of new battery materials.

Why is it important: Like any computer, quantum computers make mistakes. Without correction, these errors are collected, with results that current machines cannot accurately execute the long algorithms needed for useful applications. AWS researchers used the ocelot to implement the more efficient form of quantum correction of the error. Read the whole story.
