On July 12, Alibaba 2022 training for Asian entrepreneurs started in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China. This program provides online courses and entrepreneurship practice for 631 participants.
The courses, mostly aimed at Asian entrepreneurs, had a record 1,735 registrants. Most of the registrants are founders of small and medium-sized enterprises from various fields, such as e-commerce, e-payment, logistics, online games, health and agriculture.
After the selection, a total of 631 young entrepreneurs from Vietnam, Cambodia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand and Pakistan will participate in the course free of charge. In addition, they will receive a six-week online training to deeply understand the experience and cases of e-commerce development in China.
The training was initiated by Alibaba Global Initiatives (AGI) under eWTP. The project encourages and assists global entrepreneurs by sharing the positive impact of the digital economy in promoting inclusive trade development. Over the past five years, the project has trained more than 3,000 entrepreneurs and business leaders from more than 50 underdeveloped countries and regions in Asia, Africa, Europe and Latin America for free.

Over the past five years, these hands-on trainings have inspired entrepreneurs in each of the previous sessions. Uju, the founder of Nigerian e-commerce platform TOFA (Trade of Africa), returned home from Hangzhou and partnered with entrepreneurs from different countries to help farmers in developing regions like Togo sell their products online. Feleg Tsegaye, an Ethiopian intern, founded Deliver Addis, a food delivery platform similar to Ele.me. Meanwhile, Eddie Mok, an intern from Malaysia, returned home and founded Parcel365, which started by setting up a business of smart delivery lockers and then gradually evolved into helping villagers buy and sell agricultural products.
